Nutreco names new chief for fish feed operations in Asia

Nutreco has named a new head honcho for the Dutch animal nutrition company’s operations in Asia. The company said that Noel Kim will officially assume the role of managing director for Nutreco Asia in January 2024.

In his new role, Kim will be responsible both for the Nutreco’s livestock nutrition business Trouw Nutrition and for the aquaculture business of Skretting.

Skretting is one of the world’s largest producer of feeds for farmed fish.

Kim will be based in Thailand and will report to Therese Log Bergjord, chief executive office (CEO) of Skretting. He will also closely coordinate with David Blakemore, CEO of  the Netherlands-based Trouw Nutrition. 

“I am eagerly looking forward to exploring the business possibilities across Asia that will enable sustainable growth and allow Nutreco to achieve its purpose of Feeding the Future,” said Kim.

Feeding the Future is a science based, sustainability initiative launched by Nutreco in 2020. It focuses in developing nutritious and high-quality food produced using sustainable methods also aligned with carbon reduction strategies.

“Noel brings a wealth of strategic business management and leadership experience to the team, as well as in-depth knowledge of the Asia region,” according to Log Bergjord.

Prior to joining Nutreco, Kim led the animal nutrition Asia-Pacific business of chemicals company Evonik. He also spent 15 years in various senior positions for the American and Asian arms of the global animal food corporation Cargill.

While in Cargill Kim led several growth-oriented businesses, key strategic transformation campaigns, as well as acquisition and mergers.

Kim holds a degree in biochemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Virginia.
