A former executive of the iconic British fashion retailer Burberry Ltd., will be threading a new path as the head of procurement for Dutch fish feed giant Nutreco.
Paul Bestford spearheaded all of Burberry’s indirect expenditures in excess of $1 billion across the company’s global business from 2017 to 2020. Before that, his executive procurement track record included leadership roles at Novartis, British Airways, Ernst & Young, John Lewis Partnership and KPMG.
“Our global supply chain is essential for our ability to deliver a world-leading portfolio of products to customers,” said Bestford. “I look forward to further driving synergies across the Nutreco organisation to deliver greater value for the company.”
“At Nutreco, our purpose is Feeding the Future. And to achieve this, we need a sustainable and competitive supply base,” said Fulco van Lede, chief executive office of Nutreco. “We’re delighted that Paul is joining us to lead a truly global procurement function. In him, we have a CPO with the strategic knowledge and experience to help us achieve our company’s purpose.”
Bestford’s appointment is only the second executive change this year at Nutreco.
In July this year, then Nutreco CEO Rob Koremans announced his retirement after leading the company for three years. Koremans was replaced by van Lede the following month.
Van Lede was a member of the Executive Board of Directors of SHV in 2018, He served in different positions in Makro and SHV Energy where he later become CEO.
