Kingfish Company completes Phase 2 construction

The Kingfish Company has completed the second phase of its recirculating aquaculture system RAS facility expansion in the Netherlands. It is now fully operational. 

In its Q4 2023 trading update, the company stated that Phase 2 was completed before the end of December, resulting in all tanks being fully stocked. It said the biological performance of the new farm exceeds their expectations.

The company records this as a significant milestone that has enhanced the total production capacity to 3,500 tons. It said it was able to more than double its standing biomass from the previous year to 967 tons and achieve a net biomass growth of 635 tons, an increase from the 2022 Q4’s 408 tons.

“The completion of Phase 2 marks the beginning of an accelerated sales phase,” said Vincent Erenst, chief executive officer of The Kingfish Company. 

Kingfish company also recorded a total revenue of €5.2 million (US$5.5 million), a slight increase from the previous year’s €5.1 million (US$5.4 million) 

In January 2024, the company hired Gudo Klein Gebbink as its new commercial director, Gudo Klein Gebbink. “This role is pivotal in driving the expansion of our customer base and boosting sales across both existing and new markets,” said Erenst.

Kingfish Company said will be able to operate at full capacity In 2025.
