Smir Group and Andfjord Salmon have collaborated to have Smir Group supply its waterborne feeding system, Smirfeeder, to their land-based facilities in Andøya.

The aquaculture supplier said in a press release that this agreement could lead to more collaborations involving the multiple facets of Andfjord Salmon’s production in the future.

“We are extremely proud to have been selected as the supplier for this project. Andfjord Salmon aims to build and operate the world’s most sustainable aquaculture facility, and we are delighted to contribute to their achievement of this goal with our waterborne feeding system,” said Frode Rygh, sales manager at Smir Group.

Smir Group said its waterborne feeding system can transport pellets of different consistencies, which can enhance fish welfare and challenge existing systems.

Christian Torgersen, chief operation officer of Andfjord Salmon, said he’s happy with the collaboration.

Andfjord Salmon is also collaborating with feed supplier, Skretting and Torgersen said this will contribute to shaping the pellets and their nutritional content of the future, and positively impact energy consumption, microplastics, and infrastructure.
