Kingfish Company co-founder and CTO steps down, moves to advisory role

The Kingfish Company chief technology officer, Kees Kloet, will leave his current post and transition to a new role in the organization, according to a company statement from the Netherlands-based producer of yellowtail.

“Mr. Kloet’s importance for The Kingfish Company’s success cannot be overstated,” said chief executive, Vincent Erenst. “We are deeply grateful for his dedication and valuable contribution throughout the years, and we are pleased he will continue to support our team as a trusted advisor.”

Kloet will continue to provide guidance to the company’s management team and its supervisory board, according to The Kingfish Company.

The Kingfish Company currently has a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility in Franklin, Maine where the company’s U.S. operations raises its fingerling stock. Kingfish Maine also works with the Center for Cooperative Aquaculture Research (CCAR) in Franklin as it prepares for construction on its main facility in Jonesport, Maine.

The change follows the departure in November 2022 of the company’s founder, Ohad Maiman. Maimain has since sought other ventures in the aquaculture industry through his new investment firm, AquaFounders Capital LLC. In, April this year, he announced a partnership with ReelData AI, a Canada-based developer of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the aquaculture industry.
