A 10-Year Summary of Atlantic Salmon Performance Trials at the Freshwater Institute

Interest in land-based farms using RAS for market-size Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) continues to grow, with several commercial facilities already rearing fish. Performance data and harvest outcomes for eleven lines of Atlantic salmon, including mixed-sex and all female diploids, and all female triploids, reared over 8 production cycles from egg to market-size in freshwater land-based systems will be presented. The research provides important modeling inputs to optimize stock selection and operational and financial projections for existing and potential land-based Atlantic salmon farms.
