Pure Salmon secures automation contract for Helgeland Smolt’s new Norway facility

Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) equipment provider Pure Salmon Technology recently announced that is has been contracted by Helgeland Smolt to provide comprehensive automation, and process systems for the aquaculture firm’s planned facility in Norway.

Helgeland has invested  NOK 1 billion (US$92.8 million) on the construction of a new plant at Kilvika, in the municipality of Meløy. Pure The facility, which will be built just north of the Arctic Circle, will have the capacity to produce 10 million smolts of 600 grams. The first smolt expected to be delivered in spring 2026.

“We chose Pure Salmon Technology based on their expertise in RAS, particularly in automation. We have collaborated with Pure Salmon Technology in previous projects and have a very good working relationship with them.” said Arne Gransjøen, chief executive officer of Helgeland Smolt.

Prior to this contract, Pure Salmon completed RAS facilities for Helgeland in Reppen and Sundsfjord, Pure Salmon Technology implement a complete data gathering and analysis system for these two facilities.

Pure Salmon’s NJORD digital platform will provide comprehensive control and monitoring of the facility for Helgeland Smolt. This will contribute to optimizing operations, ensuring precise data collection and control, and strengthening the focus on fish welfare. The platform includes several smart functionalities that simplify the daily tasks for operators and personnel, according to the technology firm.
