AKVA snaps up aquaculture engineering firm

The land-based aquaculture arm of Norway-based conglomerate AKVA Group has acquired an engineering company that specializes in aquaculture farming projects.

AKVA Group Land Based said it hopes to strengthen its position in the land-based sector in Western Norway with its purchase of  Austevoll Rørteknikk.

AKVA Group Land Based plans, designs, manufactures and build turnkey land-based aquaculture facilities.

Austevoll Rørteknikk AS is located in Austevoll south of Bergen. The company operates in the engineering service industry and is a supplier of land-based aquaculture equipment in Norway.

“We are pleased to welcome Austevoll Rørteknikk to AKVA Group Land Based,” said  Roald Lorentzen, general manager at AKVA group Land Based. “The acquisition represents a strategic move to take an even stronger position in the region.”

“Through a larger presence, we will strengthen the offering within service, maintenance and total projects in Western Norway,” he added.

Austevoll specializes in polyethylene plastic constructions, technical pipe constructions for industry and aquaculture. The company produces certified fish tanks and other equipment.

Established in 2011, Austevoll has 14 employees and generates about $2.34 million in annual sales.
