West Coast Salmon selects PR Aqua as RAS partner for U.S. Atlantic salmon facility

February 8, 2022  By RAStech Editorial Staff

West Coast Salmon (WCS) has announced its recirculating aquaculture (RAS) partner will be PR Aqua of Vancouver, British Columbia (B.C.) in Canada, as the company treks forward in the development of its industrial scale land-based farming facility, which will serve the U.S. West Coast market with sustainably-produced Atlantic salmon.

West Coast Salmon’s decision comes after a thorough review PR Aqua’s design and execution strategy, which includes a track record that ensures a solid platform for West Coast Salmon to execute on its plan to build and operate its facility, planned for Reno, Nev. The project’s first phase is designed to deliver close to 14,000 tonnes of production capacity (heads on gutted), in the first half of 2025.

“We are extremely proud to take part in this large-scale project and to support the West Coast Salmon team and owners on their mission to supply the US West Coast market with fresh, healthy, and sustainably produced salmon,” commented KC Hosler, general manager and CTO of PR Aqua.

“After joining WCS as COO in early 2021, the management team has made a thorough review and optimization of the company’s design and execution strategy. We are very impressed by PR Aqua’s strong team, expertise, and track record, as well as the initial work they have performed,” said Morten Nielsen, COO of West Coast Salmon, commented. “The WCS team is excited to have secured an agreement with PR Aqua and we look forward to executing our plan in partnership with KC Hosler and his team to achieve our goal of becoming the leading US West Coast provider of high quality sustainably raised Atlantic salmon.”
