AKVA to build Cermaq’s new $64M post-smolt facility

RAS builder AKVA Group has secured a new contract to build Cermaq Norway’s new post-smolt facility.

This land-based recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) facility will be built at Sørøya in Finnmark, Norway with an estimated annual capacity of 12 million post-smolts annually. Engineering and design work is said to start immediately and the contract is valued at 60 million euros (US$64 million) minimum.

“This contract with Cermaq Norway represents for AKVA the largest contract in Norway ever, and will support the activity level in our land-based business for the next few years,” Knut Nesse, CEO of AKVA, said in a press release.
