The Millbrook First Nation community last year, unveiled plans to work with the Canadian arm of Cooke Aquaculture Inc., in developing a RAS smolt facility received the green light from the Nova Scotia Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (NSDFA).

This is not the first time that Cooke Aquaculture has turned to Akva for its RAS needs.

In 2019, the aquaculture company ordered an $11.5 million RAS unit from the Chilean subsidiary of Akva.

The order came a few months after an announcement that the Cooke Aquaculture commissioned  AKVA Chile for several land-based smolt projects in Chile.
